July is Minority Mental Health Awareness Month
National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month brings awareness to the unique challenges that racial and ethnic minority communities face with mental illness. In 2018, Asian Americans were 60% less likely to receive mental health treatment than non-Hispanic Whites. Obstacles include stigma, lack of health insurance, and less access to treatment. The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is committed to improving mental health equity for racial and ethnic minority populations across the nation.
